Founded by Josh Vorndran in 2024, First Haus Company has been a trusted provider of high-quality carpentry services to the Taos and Northern New Mexico communities. With over fourteen years of experience focusing on building well-crafted, functional homes and spaces, Josh has dedicated himself to enhancing the lives of his fellow community members through his superior craftsmanship.

Building community is at the heart of Josh’s approach. He collaborates closely with specialty subcontractors who share his commitment to excellence, ensuring each project meets the highest standards of quality and durability. Despite the premium quality of his work, Josh is committed to offering competitive pricing to make his services accessible to a wide range of clients.

Josh’s passion for quality craftsmanship stems from growing up in a construction family. After completing his undergraduate degree at Indiana University, Bloomington, Josh started moving west. He honed his skills through a formal apprenticeship with a Seattle-based design + build firm specializing in energy-efficient remodels, gaining invaluable experience in sustainable building practices. Since moving to New Mexico, Vorndran has served as lead carpenter, project supervisor, and building systems consultant.

Outside of work, Josh can often be found exploring the great outdoors of  Northern New Mexico. Whether he's biking, skiing, on the Rio Grande, or hiking  the region's trails, Josh embraces an active lifestyle that complements his passion for building and creating.
